"After my surgeon explained the radical prostatectomy procedure, he then handed me a sheet explaining pelvic floor exercises, but I had no idea what I had to do! Thankfully, my wife found Emily, who I saw just 2 weeks before my surgery to demystify the exercises. I then saw her a few times after my surgery (which was successful!) to progress my rehab exercises. "I saw Emily 2 years after having my child. I had ongoing pain in my hips and back and had seen other physiotherapists prior, who had unfortunately not related any of my issues to pregnancy/child birth. After discharging myself from physio I went back to the Doctor and explained my ongoing pain and the current physio plan I had, which hadn’t helped and had just been put down to a weight loss requirement.
She recommended I try Women’s Health physio, so I booked in with Emily.
I have always been apprehensive about any medical appointment but Emily instantly put me at ease and listened to all the issues I’d had since having my little one. She straight away was able to say what she thought was the problem (nothing that had been mentioned before) and started me slowly with pelvic floor exercises. We increased the exercises every 2 weeks and every time I felt stronger. I am now able to carry on day to day without any pain.

"After having two children I really struggled with my pelvic floor. Not only did I leak when I coughed, but it got so bad that I couldn’t walk the children to school as I would leak too much. I saw specialists, including a consultant, but it was only when I saw Emily did real change occur. Previously I would always have to have a spare pair of underwear with me as I frequently leaked, including at work. This made me really self conscious as there had been times when my bladder seemingly leaked spontaneously, which went through to my underwear and trousers.
Within 9 months of working with Emily, I am now able to walk the children to school without leaking, take part in more active games with my children and even make it through most days without having to change my underwear. Having been so self conscious and aware that I could not control my leaking, I have gone from stopping doing things I want to, to enjoying trying new things, including power walking and the occasional jog! Most importantly I feel I now understand how to manage my pelvic floor, which means that I no longer feel like a leaky bladder is just something I have to put up with as a mum. What amazes me most is that Emily proved to me that there is something that can be done to help with leaking and that I no longer have to live with a constant worry.
